John 8: 21 – 24 “Jesus said to them again, ‘I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come’. So the Jews said, will He kill Himself, because He says, ‘Where I go you cannot come’? And He said to them again, ‘You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.’

What does it mean to believe?                    What am I to believe?                            What good is Belief to me?

Believe in the original Greek is pronounced Pist-yoo’-o: Meaning to have faith in or upon a person or statement, confidence in.

1. What does it mean to Believe?

Romans 10: 13—17 How shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed, how shall they call if they have not heard.

To believe means to know, to be sure of. This is not a blind faith!

 Romans 10: 17 So then Faith comes by hearing the word of God

James 2: 19—24 True Christ like belief goes further than just belief, it forces, gets you to do something, action!

2. What am I to Believe?

Jesus said “unless you believe I am he”. He Who?        The Messiah, The Christ, The Anointed , The Saviour

John 1: 34—51  The disciples find the Messiah and follow Him, Matthew 7: 7 seek and you shall find..

Matthew 13: 44 the man for great Joy sold all he had to buy the precious prize.

Acts 2: 21—36  Peter preaching in the day of Pentecost: This Jesus whom you have crucified is now both Lord and Christ.

The things you prize most are they not the things of greatest value. Of how much value is your soul?

We gamble daily when we ignore looking into the future of our soul and acting on it. Jesus said unless you believe that I am he you shall die in your sins. Jesus said to Peter “upon this rock I will build my church”

                          The rock = Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God.

                          Matt 16: 13—18

3. What good is Belief to me?

2nd Cor 13:4—9 But we shall live with Him by the Power of God, Prove your self’s in the Faith unless you are reprobates (Useless).

John 20:24—31 (Doubting Thomas) those that don’t see are more blessed by their belief in Jesus and that believing you might have life.

The Gift of God is eternal life through Jesus the Christ our Lord.
